He was born on November 11, 1948 in Gaziantep. After completing primary school in Gaziantep, secondary school in Vefa High School in 1969, he entered Istanbul University Faculty of Economics. In the meantime, she continued her music studies, which started in the high school years. His first serious music studies began in 1966 with Emin Ongan in Üsküdar Musical Society. And it lasted two years. Then he took private lessons from Nazmi Atlığ for two years. Since 1970, he begun to work in the Advanced Turkish Music Conservatory Society with Teoman Önaldı. In 1974, he took over the management of the association after Önaldı’s leaving the societye. Çetin Körükçü directed about 150 programs and concerts for TRT Istanbul Radio.

 

In 1969 he made his first albüm after debut in the competition opened by the Newspaper Haftasonu. In 1976, he entered the Istanbul State Classical Turkish Music Choir, which was the first Turkish Music Chorus established by the state, winning the examination of the Ministry of Culture in 1976. He started to work with Dr. Nevzat Atlığ, Nejdet Yasar, Cüneyt Kosal, Mefharet Yıldırım  as well with many masters. For 26 years, he participated in all concerts both in Turkey and abroad as a soloist and a choir.

 

He joined the Istanbul Technical University in 1976 as a student and entered the Turkish Conservatory of Music, the first conservatory on the history of Turkish Music, and graduated in 1980. After graduation, he served as a lecturer in the same place. Starting from 1985, he started to perform duet with Nesrin Körükçü, whom he married in 1976. The Nesrin-Çetin Körükçü couple gave concerts in and out of the country, made radio and television programs, LP and CDs.

Çetin Körükçü gave concerts in many universities both at home and abroad. He participated in symposiums, presented papers, articles. He received invitations from various establishments and gave lectures. Since 1974 he has been directing the Turkish Music branch of Air Forces Academy for about 15 years. In 1989 he became an assistant professor. In 1996 he prepared a CD series titled "Living is a song" with a proposal from Universal . This series, which he has been working as a director and solist, consists of 27 CDs in which 400 works have been identified and completed in 3 years. This series participated in fairs abroad. Harvard University accepted this Works as the source lecture material for the education.

 

In 1998 his book titled "Turkish Art Music" was published, which is a general cultural book for every art-lover considerable also as an informative book. This publisher Hürriyet Yayıncılık A.Ş. distributed  this book in the same year with a different cover arrangement.

 

In 1999, he was appointed as a member of the Art Council of the Ministry of Culture Istanbul State Classical Turkish Music Choir. Between the years of 2000-2002, he prepared and presented the Turkish Music program "Live Is a Song" in Flash TV with Nesrin Körükçü live every week. In 2002, he retired from his position in the State Classical Turkish Music Choir upon invitation of the Directorate of Conservatory of the Golden Horn University and became director here.

 

Between 2002 and 2013 he worked as a Conservator Director at Haliç University.

 

Between 2014 and 2015, he founded the Department of Turkish Music at the Conservatory of Uludağ University and opened the Master's program.

 

In 2014 he established the Okan University Conservatory  and opened the Bachelor's, Master's and Artistic Proficiency programs. He continues his function as Director and lecturer at this university currently.
